This essay explores whether multimodal composition can compel the academy to revise its vision of writing as an exclusively intellectual practice, a vision that limits the authority students can claim in their academic writing. I argue that without theorizing the embodiment of composition, multimodal composition will ultimately do little to alter the ideal of the academic writer engaged in intellectual rather than material production. The essay advocates the pedagogical possibilities of disability theory as one approach to emphasizing the physical nature of writing and meaning-making in the multimodal composition classroom. 相似文献

Computer graphics are used by architects mainly for presentation purposes. However, the rapid pace of the development of computer technology enables more creative applications. This research proposes the use of dynamically simulated computer graphics as an evaluation tool for architectural design. Since buildings are living entities, whole life cycles of buildings should be dynamically simulated in highly visualised virtual environments to evaluate the future performance of prospective designs. Two areas that seem especially promising for near future (evaluation of user-building interaction and visualisation of environmental factors) are mentioned and some proposals are presented for the future use of dynamic simulations in virtual environments. 相似文献

In this paper, we designed and implemented an intelligent computer assisted blog writing system. The system includes concept expansion module, text generation module and content replacement module. The concept expansion is employed to expand the concept provided by the user and these expanded concepts can provide the system more semantic information. The text generation model is based on keyword generation model and text segment generation model of which the important keywords are extracted from system corpus to serve as the backbone of the template. Meanwhile, the text segments between keywords will make up the content of the template and candidate text segments are retrieved from the corpus based on statistical analysis. The content replacement module employs Google to retrieve content from the Web and ranks the content based on term and POS tagging similarities. The prototype system has shown that it could work well on blog writing application domain and the concept of this research could be extended to other domains easily. 相似文献

Modern workplaces often require adaptation to novel visuo-motor transformations. Findings on age-related variations of such adaptation are rather inconsistent, suggesting that whether or not age-related impairments do occur depends on boundary conditions. This paper examined the hypotheses that age-related variations affect primarily strategic adjustments to novel transformations and can be found for complex (non-linear) transformations, but not for simple (linear) ones. After a practice period with linear and non-linear visuo-motor transformations, open-loop performance, after-effects and explicit knowledge were examined. Consistent with previous findings, older participants had longer movement times and shorter open-loop amplitudes, more so for long than for short target amplitudes. However, the study did not find any age-related variation of adaptation to a novel visuo-motor gain. Regarding adaptation to a non-linear transformation, the findings suggest slightly superior explicit knowledge of younger adults and the development of slightly more efficient closed-loop processes in the course of practice. 相似文献

This article reports on efforts to create an administrative structure for learning and teaching multimodal composing that depends not on the leadership of a new media writing expert but on the collaboration of relative novices organized according to principles of emergent learning. Based on four years’ experience in a grant-funded program that supports new media composing in multiple disciplines, I report on the benefits of a bottom-up, emergent approach while raising questions about the long-term sustainability of such an approach. Currently, the development of leading‐edge technology for recording and loading human motion on the basis of haptic information is required in the fields of manufacturing and human support. Human movement is an assembly of motion components. Since human movements should be supported by a robot in real time, it is necessary to integrate the motion components that were saved earlier. Once such motion integration is realized, future technology for use in daily human life can be developed. This paper proposes the integrated reproduction of the decomposed components of human motion by using a motion copying system. This system is the key technology for the realization of the acquisition, saving, and reproduction of real‐world haptic information. In this paper, a system for transferring human grasping skills to a robot is presented. In order to reduce the dimensionality of the grasp postures, we extracted three synergies from data on human grasping experiments and trained a neural network with the features of the objects and the coefficients of the synergies. Then, the trained neural network was employed to control robot grasping via an individually optimized mapping between the human hand and the robot hand. As force control was unavailable on our robot hand, we designed a simple strategy for the robot to grasp and hold the objects by exploiting tactile feedback at the fingers. Experimental results demonstrated that the system can generalize the transferred skills to grasp new objects. 相似文献
